Computer Science Instructor

Klarrio Academy is looking for a part-time or full-time Computer Science instructor.
This role could be combined with a data-engineer position within the Klarrio R&D group if desired.

 
Your challenges & responsibilities

Are you passionate about teaching and coaching a group of young adults hands-on about computer science?
For our Klarrio academy we are looking for instructors on one or more of the following topics:

  • Structure and organization of computer systems
  • Operating system concepts
  • Networking
  • Distributed systems
  • Linux and GNU-toolbox
  • Methodology & software design
  • C, golang, java, scala, javascript, …
  • Monitoring and logging
  • Automation and deployment pipelines
  • Containers and container orchestration systems like Kubernetes

The team

The Klarrio trainers teach a group of young adults with the ambition to become proficient data-engineers the fundamentals of computer science, hands-on IT skills, basic cloud-economics and teamwork. Our goal is that upon completion of this course they will be immediately deployable in the Klarrio R&D community.

Klarrio’s R&D team delivers cost-efficient streaming data platforms tailored to the needs of its customers in an agile manner.

 
What we are looking for

An IT professional with a degree in computer science willing to share their knowledge and expertise with a group of keen adults. 

You are a naturally collaborative person with a strong theoretical and practical background in computer science and eager to teach, coach and build a small team of data-engineers in a project oriented manner.

As a Computer Scientist, you possess the following minimum qualifications:

  • Master or PhD degree in Computer Science.
  • Programming experience in either Python, Java, Scala, Go or C
  • Hands-on experience with the Linux operating system and toolbox
  • A talent and eagerness to explain something in a clear and concise manner
  • Patience

You are capable of teaching one or more of the following subjects : 

  • Structure and organization of a computer system including some basic assembly language
  • Operating systems concepts
  • Computer Networks
  • Distributed Systems
  • Methodology & software design
  • One of: C, Python, Golang, Scala or Java
  • Monitoring and logging
  • Automation and deployment pipelines
  • Docker and Kubernetes

 
Key responsibilities

  • Build and maintain your course material
  • Teach your subject:
    • Go through the theory
    • Spend most of the time in assisting with individual and group assignments in order for the students to master the subject
  • Act as an agile coach during the team’s group assignments.
  • Do code reviews and depending on the assignments contribute to Open Source deliverables
  • Evaluate your students
